Seventh Grade Orientation
On Wednesday, August 19, 2009, we will be holding an evening orientation program for our incoming 7th graders. In order to allow your child the time and space to become familiar with the middle school, the number of students attending each presentation will be kept as low as possible.
Students with last names beginning with A-L should attend the 6:00pm to 7:00pm session. Students with last names beginning M-Z should attend the 7:15pm to 8:15pm session.
Your child's schedule and locker information will be mailed, be sure to bring this information to the program.
After a brief meeting in the cafetorium, your child will be allowed to walk around the building, locate all his/her classrooms, and practice opening his/her locker.
Please call the middle school at 242-2100 if you have any questions before then.

From the Principal
Dear Parent(s) or Guardian:
I would like to introduce myself
as the new building principal of the Lacey Township Middle School. It
is an honor and privilege to be at the service of an outstanding faculty
and the educational community that encompasses Lacey Township. I am
returning to the Lacey Township School District with twenty-four years
of experience in education. Eleven of those years were served as a middle
school teacher with an additional three years in middle school administration.
My high school experience includes nine years teaching at Lacey High School and
two years at Barnegat High School, one as an administrator.
Throughout the school year,
your child's teachers and the administration will make every effort
to communicate with you. We will keep you informed of your child's
growth and progress along with school/district activities. Your support
and participation in school-sponsored programs, such as the Parent-Teacher
Council, aids us in addressing community expectations along with
the exchange of ideas. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's
teachers, counselor, or the main office whenever a concern arises or
you have any questions. As stakeholders in the educational process,
we all must collaborate our efforts in promoting achievement and success
within the lives of our young learners.
I hope you will take part in
your child's education by inquiring about their time spent at school.
As a parent myself, I know how important it is to show an interest
in their friends, teachers, studies, and activities. Create a home environment
that supports the completion of all assignments with academic effort
and pride. Encourage your child to ask for extra assistance and help
when needed. Together, I am confident that your child will demonstrate
a greater motivation as we continue to exhibit interest in their academic
and social experiences.
Thank you for your time and
dedication in supporting us at Lacey Township Middle School.
Yours in education,James Handschuch Principal
James Handschuch
